Movement Matters!

I wanted to end the week on the topic of movement and it really does matter. In fact, our life depends on it! One stand out statistic was that 10 men die in Australia each day due to their physical inactivity, shocking! Good news, even a 10 minute walk each day can add 3 years to your life, with that number rising as high as 7 years with a 30 minute walk.

We all know exercise is good for us and if we are going to enjoy a high quality of life, we need to maintain strength and stability to enjoy the activities we want to. For injury prevention, regular resistance training is a great way to keep the little niggles and issues at bay. Twice a week will do, focusing on quality rather than quantity is key.

Ideally, you need to first address injuries, asymmetries and movement dysfunction before loading. This is my expertise as an Exercise Scientist, so if you would like to add the right type of strength training back into your weekly schedule, please reach out to me.

Additionally, making the small changes necessary to build momentum for a healthy life is much easier with professional support and accountability. I also offer 25 minute movement based online sessions and combine this with lifestyle and behavioural coaching. One session a week could be enough to turn your health journey, in a better direction. I have extensive experience in online coaching so, if you’re interested, please get in touch.

Well, that wraps up the Men’s health week and I wish you all a healthier and happier time ahead.
